How do I tell this guy I've been thinking about him and get him to open up to me?

Okay I dated this guy three years ago and the break up wasn't bad we just went are separate ways. Well one of my friends was still friends with him on facebook so he added me. Well we met up at a party and had a hard core make out session. It had been awhile since both of us had been in a relationship. We've been hanging out every weekend when we come home from college. I'm not sure how to set the mood for me to tell him how I feel. I know a girl usually isn't the initiator, but he's kind of a pansy and I'm the bold one. Also, I want to get to know him better. We have a lot of things in common. I'm one of the only few girls that can talk about motorcycles, cars, and guns. However, I just can't get him to tell me his opinion on certain things like what he thinks of me.
