Is Gavin a good name for a little boy?

My husband and I are expecting our first baby. A little boy in 2 months. I want to name our son Gavin but my husband says that is a "Pansy" name. He said our son will be made fun of. He wants to name him Karl or David. Is he right? Could this name be harmful to our child? It would not be in the United States were I was raised up but my husband was raised up in Australia where my son will be raised and he may know something I do not about the name Gavin. Thanks=)
