I am judging my boyfriend because of his father?

My boyfriend and i have a 3 year old boy. I got pregnant very early in our relationship by accident. We got on great and fell in love over time... My problem however is that the more times i have met his father the more i dislike him. He is 1.chauvinistic,calls his wife fat to her face to encourage hes to lose weight, tells her that her art is rubbish to encourage her to do better, tells her he will divorce her if she doesnt stop smoking etc 2.controlling, all 3 of his grown sons are afraid to stand up to him. They were beaten by him as kids and mentally put down by him, called pansies if they showed any sign of weakness, made sit at the table for 6 hours to finish a meal, he even held their noses closed to make them swallow 3.homophobic i wont even go into detail, lets just sayi hope for my sons sake that he is not gay... 4 insecure, i know this is not a fault and it explains a lot of the previous stuff... Anyway, i keep seeing more and more similarities between my boyfriend and his father and it is actually turning me off him. None of these above things except the insecurity, but little things, tone of voice when disciplining our boy, phrases he says, little things, in the last 3 years he has proved to be a good guy but im terrified he will turn into the man that despite his shortcomings my boyfriend respects and looks up to. Anyone got any thoughts?
