Boyfriends parents claim they love me?

my boyfriend tells me that his parents LOVE me, but somehow i don't believe him. they are going on a camping trip with another family this week, but his parents said i couldn't go! They say that my boyfriend changes when he's with me and he doesn't act like himself and that i "demand" his attention, which is not true at all. they said i could go next year, but i don't see the difference. is there something else that they're not telling him? it's an interracial relationship so could this be it?
